Something Something Review
Story
Kumar [Siddharth] is an IT employee, who is a boy next door kind and due to his sore experiences in love he maintains distance from girls. Sanjana [Hansika] joins kumar’s company and he falls in love with her. George [Ganesh Venkatraman] who works in same office sincerely try’s to marry Sanjana. Kumar takes help of Premji [Brahmi] to win heart of Sanjana. Rest of the story revolves around what happens between Kumar-Sanjana-George and did Kumar got successful in winning heart of Sanjana with help of Premji or not ?

StarPerformances

Siddharth did a decent job to mingle with Brahmi comedy timing. Sidd gave life to his role of IT employee and he performed naturally going into skin of the character. Any software guy will definitely see themselves in Sidd in this film.

Hansika looked bubbly & cute in fact very similar to heroine Khushboo throughout the film. This time she has less scope for acting bcoz of less screen time and even in songs she disappoints. Ganesh Venkatraman of Dhamarukam fame left his mark in character of George.

Brahmi is at his best comic roles this year and as Premji he crossed peaks of comedy. His comedy timing is outstanding, costumes used for him made him look young. Without hesitation Brahmi is hero of this flick and Siddharth is second hero.
Something Something Review: Direction, Music & Technical Aspects

Sundar C. did alright kind of work in his direction, screenplay and story for this movie. Especially his screenplays in Brahmi-Sidd episodes are funny but he looked struggling hard to manage two hours movie on a simple-sinle point story. Music scored by Sathya is big minus to this movie, other than one song rest sounded nonsense and even BGS is sounded week.

Gopi Amarnath cinematography, Praveen K.L –N.B.Srikanth editing looked mediocre and even production values are above average.
Something Something Review: Analysis

Don’t expect an intense love story or complete fun ride from starting frame to end in Something Something. But one thing is sure there will be entertaining comedy episodes between Brahmi-Sidd and for sure you will laugh every time Brahmi is on onscreen. Credit for fresh funny lines which appeals to today’s audiences goes to Sundar C and Brahmi’s perfect execution  made  Something Something movie to get above two rating.

Bottom Line: Just a one time watcher [only for Brahmi].

NH4 Review

Movie : NH4
Cast : Siddharth, Ashrita Shetty, Kay Kay Menon,
Directed by : Manimaran
Produced by : Vetrimaran
Banner : Lakshmi Ganapathi Films
Music : Prakash kumar
Release Date : 2013-04-20
Siddharth has been shuffling between Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films these days. His latest film is Udhayam NH4 that was made in Tamil and dubbed in Telugu. Here is the review of it.

What is it about?

Prabhu (Siddharth) and Rithika (Ashrita) fall in love. Rithika is the daughter of a minister. He plans to send her off to some other country and Rithika elopes with Prabhu. She will turn major by the night she ran off and a police officer (KK Menon) is instructed by the minister to get his daughter back before it is too late. The chase is on.

Performances:

Siddharth has done an intelligent college guy role in the film. He is good in the character where he has to underplay all the time. Ashrita Shetty looks okay but her performance is not up to the mark. She got a meaty role for her debut and Ashrita failed to make use of it. KK Menon is as competent as ever. However, his character is not etched properly. Other actors are mostly Tamil and may be all the actors from hero's friends gang are newcomers. They are fine.

Technicalities:

Music composed by Prakash Kumar is good. He has given a decent background score for this semi thriller. Cinematography is nice. Editing is slick. Production values are just about okay. Producer Vetrimaran provided the script and he succeeded only fifty percent and messed it up in the second half. Director Manimaran did a fair job in making this film a decent watch. Good screenplay in second half could have made this a better film. Film showed lot of promise in the first hour and with a messy second hour nice chance have gone wasted.

Analysis:

NH4 is a mix of romance and thriller genres. This type of films are very rare and risky to make. Writer and the director have almost pulled it off. The first half is very slick and interesting. It goes haywire after the interval point. Menon grabbing Ashrita from Siddharth and vice versa aren't effective on screen. Good climax could have made it up for the mistakes but the ending is even bad and NH4 ends up as a below average fare.

Film starts off on an interesting note and things move at breathtaking pace. The spaced flashback technique is effectively used. NH4 shows lot of promise by the interval point. But it fizzles off at the similar speed it started and gets worse as it reaches the climax. Half baked script is the main culprit in this film. The setup and technical aspects are fine tuned to make this work but the writer couldn't make it into a two hour movie.

Interestingly this film has been produced by the writer himself (Vetrimaran) and he will have to blame himself for the results. You may watch it if you have nothing else to do. Or else simply wait for the home edition.

Verdict: Exciting journey on NH4 takes a boring turn!

While working with Balu Mahendra for Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam (2004), producer Vetrimaaran prepared a script for Dhanush,
who was the lead hero of the film he worked on, and Dhanush immediately accepted the offer after hearing the story.
The film titled was Desiya Nedunchalai 47 was initially launched with Yuvan Shankar Raja as the music director and Ekambaram as the cinematographer.
However, he found trouble finding producers with A. M. Rathnam and Salem Chandrasekhar leaving the project after initial interest, Dhanush's sister
Dr. Vimala Geetha agreed to produce the film, but she also dropped the film.
Dhanush's father Kasthuri Raja finally agreed to produce the film and Kirat Bhattal was signed as heroine,
while Harris Jayaraj was selected as music director. However, after two days of shoot the film was shelved and Dhanush opted to
pursue other films after the surprise success of his Thiruvilayadal Arambam (2006).

Vetrimaaran restarted the film as producer, introducing a new director with his script in 2012.
The team tried to re-take the title Desiya Nedunchalai, but this name was already registered by Dr. Srinivasan,
which hence lead to the renaming of the title to Udhayam NH4. Vetrimaaran’s favorite actor Kishore is playing a pivotal role in the film,
while Kay Kay Menon plays the antagonist, making his debut in Tamil cinema. Debut actress Ashrita Shetty was selected to play the lead female role.
